Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped (Revelation 5:11-14).
Brief Thoughts on the Sermon:
Revelation 4-5 gives us a glimpse behind the curtain of history. John doesn’t see chaos, fear, or uncertainty; he sees a throne. And seated at the center of it all is God, calm and in control. Then he sees the Lamb, slain but standing, holding the scroll of God’s purposes in his hands.
This vision shows us who really rules the world and how he rules it. The universe isn’t driven by fear or power but by the sacrificial love of Jesus. The Lamb reigns, and his victory is secure. That’s why heaven can sing so confidently: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.”
Remember that our worship joins theirs. The songs we sing echo the song of heaven: not to hype up emotion, but to help our church see reality clearly. Behind every trial and every storm, there’s a throne, and on that throne sits a Savior who has already conquered.
