Strength Without Revenge

Strength Without Revenge

David has been treated terribly by Saul, and then suddenly he finds himself in a position where he could easily strike back. The sermon will focus on how we respond when we’ve been hurt or mistreated and have the chance to retaliate.

One of the main ideas is that gentleness isn’t weakness. David refuses to take revenge, but he also doesn’t pretend Saul has done nothing wrong. He confronts him honestly and then leaves judgment in God’s hands. Ultimately, the passage points us to Jesus, who had the power to retaliate but chose not to.
