The American Red Cross recently asked us to host another blood drive on Sunday, November 29, starting at 7:30am. In preparation for the Holidays and with stabilization of the COVID-19 response, hospitals are basically back to pre-March need for blood products. The Red Cross continues to enforce mitigations to minimize risk for virus transmission, including social distancing, requirement of masks, capacity limitations, and enhanced cleaning. All donors have a temperature check prior to entering the drive and must not have been sick or exposed to COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to donation or have a pending test. *Most travel deferrals recently changed from 12 months to 3 months so prior travel for mission trips should not be an issue unless you travel within the 3 months prior to November 29. Please use the following link to schedule your appointment: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?order=DATE&range=10&zipSponsor=hcoc.
We have around 45 appointment slots this time, so be sure to sign up! Many medications and medical conditions actually do NOT impact your ability to give blood so check common eligibility questions at: https://www.redcrossblood.org/faq.html#eligibility. If you have problems booking an appointment or have questions, contact Marla Troughton at marla.troughton@redcross.org.
